Courageous Conversations: Building Bridges Across Difference
Recent conversations about the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, the casting of a Black actress to play Ariel in the Little Mermaid, and ongoing discussions about many other world events continue to demonstrate just how ill-equipped most of us are at engaging in thoughtful and intentional dialogue. Whether it’s at work, at home, or with friends and family, we understand that difficult conversations come up all the time. In a culture where deeply-entrenched and polarizing views have become the norm, how do we have those tough conversations with folks we care about and how can we work to build bridges across our differences? In this session, you will learn why having these conversations is so hard, why cutting people out of your life isn’t the answer, why it’s important to honour the grey areas and reject binary thinking, and how to assert your position and your boundaries while still leaning into empathy and compassion.
This session will run on Thursday, November 10, 2022 from 12pm–2:30pm ET. Registration is $249 + tax.
In an effort to make our community sessions accessible to folks facing financial barriers, we are offering a limited number of spots at a discounted rate to individuals who are currently unemployed, underemployed, and/or have been affected financially by the pandemic—particularly if you are a member of a historically marginalized community.
