So, here's the thing, for a long time, traditional human resources practices felt shitty because HR systems and policies weren't rooted in anti-oppressive practices. So, all of the systems of oppression that create barriers at work (and beyond) for some of our most marginalized communities were further perpetuated in our physical and digital workplaces. Not great, we know! This is why women still make less than our male counterparts, trans folks are underrepresented in most workplaces, people with "Black sounding names" are less likely to get called for an interview, and nearly half of Indigenous Canadians report experiencing discrimination at work, amongst many other things. At Bloom, we recognize that great HR starts with anti-oppressive practices so that you can achieve more inclusive, equitable, and diverse outcomes.
This is why we do what we do. This is where our work starts.
